Ewan Ross is a Lecturer in Immunology at Aston University, affiliated with the School of Biosciences and the College of Health and Life Sciences. His research focuses on immunology, infectious diseases, macrophage biology, and extracellular matrix engineering. Ross is part of the Biosciences Research Group (BRG) and the Aston Research Centre for Health in Ageing.
Key research themes include understanding macrophage polarization and function in inflammation, Salmonella pathogenesis, and bioengineered niches for stem cells. His work integrates immunology, cell biology, and bioengineering to address challenges in regenerative medicine and infectious disease.
Recent studies highlight innovations in extracellular matrix engineering to support hematopoietic stem cells, nanotopography effects on mesenchymal stromal cells, and the role of tristetraprolin in regulating inflammatory responses. Ross collaborates widely on projects involving bacterial vaccines, immune modulation, and biomaterials.
His articles span 2000–2024, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to cell biology, immunoregulation, and translational medicine. Ross has supervised three academic works and contributes to health-related research in aging populations through the Aston Research Centre.
