Ewa Wikström is a Professor in Health Governance at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Business Administration within the School of Business, Economics and Law. She specializes in governance, leadership, healthcare organization, and workplace management with a focus on aging populations and organizational capability. Her current research projects include studies on workplace alcohol prevention, aging workforce strategies, and healthcare resilience during crises.
Research interests span health governance systems, leadership in complex environments, and interprofessional collaboration. Notable projects include the NADAL national alcohol prevention network and the StratSam initiative on public sector work practices. Wikström has led over 10 major research grants from bodies like Forte and AFA Insurance.
She has held leadership roles including Deputy Dean for Educational Issues and membership in the Faculty Board. Wikström advises on sustainable leadership practices and has pioneered organizational learning programs to improve workplace attractiveness in strained sectors. Her work frequently addresses the intersection of healthcare quality, efficiency, and work environment sustainability.
Key contributions include the Safe Hands project reducing surgical infections through aseptic technique training, and co-creation initiatives in dementia care environments. She collaborates with AgeCap (Center for Ageing and Health) and CERA (Risk Use/Addiction research center).
