معرفی
Evy Vereecken is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at KU Leuven's Faculty of Engineering Science. Her work focuses on building physics and sustainable design for heritage conservation, with a tenure-track emphasis on hygrothermal properties of masonry and preventive conservation strategies.
Research Interests: Her research explores moisture transport in historic materials, hygrothermal modeling, and risk assessments for heritage structures. Key areas include
- Hydrophobised building materials
- Climate case studies for artifacts
- Internal insulation systems in historic walls
- Hygrothermal dynamics under future climate scenarios
Projects: She leads projects like 'Hygrothermal characterization of heritage masonry' (2024–2028) and 'Microclimates for heritage artefacts' (2024–2028), focusing on moisture risks and climate case validation. She co-promoted a 2019–2024 study on hydrophobised masonry.
Labs & Collaborations: Vereecken contributes to the HAMSTER Test Facility, a bi-climatic chamber for full-scale building experiments, and collaborates with institutions like Aalborg University on Nordic Symposium research.
