Prof. Dr. Evi VERBECQUE is a tenure track lecturer at Hasselt University's Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, specifically within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy. She is an active member of the Rehabilitation Sciences Research Group and serves as Deputy Ombudsman for multiple examination boards including the Bachelor and Master programs in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, as well as the Master of Occupational Therapy Science.
Her research focuses on pediatric rehabilitation with specialization in:
- Developmental neuroscience mechanisms
- Motor skill development in children
- Balance disorders and interventions
- Nutritional interventions for motor development
- Rehabilitation for developmental coordination disorders
She currently supervises seven doctoral students researching topics including balance control in Developmental Coordination Disorder, motor learning interventions in Ethiopia, and CO-OP effectiveness for autistic children.
Dr. VERBECQUE leads four active research projects:
- Effectiveness of CO-OP in autistic children (2024-2028)
- Intensive balance training for DCD (2023-2027)
- Nutrition/motor skill intervention in Ethiopia (2023-2027)
- Balance evaluation systems for children (2022)
