Dr Evgenia Ralli is a Lecturer in Financial Law and Regulation at the Edinburgh Law School, University of Edinburgh, where she contributes to the LLM in International Banking Law and Finance by teaching financial and banking law. Her research focuses on the interrelation between law and socio-economic contexts, particularly in banking and financial regulation, with a specific emphasis on shadow banking and its historical evolution.
Before joining Edinburgh, she served as a Lecturer at Coventry University, teaching EU law and financial law, and held part-time and visiting roles at the Florence School of Banking and Finance (EUI) and the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her academic background includes a PhD and LLM in Comparative, European and International Laws from the European University Institute (EUI), an LLM in European Economic and Financial Criminal Law from the University of Luxembourg, an LLM in German Law from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), and an LLB from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh).
Her research spans shadow banking, EU financial law, financial criminal law, comparative law, and interdisciplinary methodologies. She has published on topics such as the institutionalization of shadow banking in the EU, regulatory arbitrage, and the European Arrest Warrant. She is a Fellow of the European Law Institute and a member of the Kavala Bar Association, the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), and the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS).
