Professor Evelyn Tenenbaum holds dual roles as a Professor of Bioethics at Albany Medical College and a Professor of Law. She serves as Director of the Health Law and Compliance Program. Her academic credentials include a B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Her research and professional focus spans health law, bioethics, civil rights, and health policy. She has led high-profile cases involving AIDS testing protocols, office-based surgery guidelines, reproductive policies at Catholic hospitals, and civil rights litigation including a landmark decision on labor rights at Catholic schools. Notably, she secured over $65 million in disability benefits through a Social Security Administration case.
Professor Tenenbaum is actively involved in ethics governance as a member of the Ethics Review Committee at Albany Medical Center and advises the Albany Law School’s Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Moot Court Competition. Her work bridges legal, ethical, and policy dimensions of healthcare.
