Eve Mullins is a Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Science. She holds a PhD from the same institution (2019) examining relationship-building in groupwork addressing sexual offending. Her research focuses on social work practice skills, criminal justice systems, and interactional analysis using conversation analysis methods. Key areas include probation practice, desistance narratives, and domestic abuse interventions.
Educationally, she completed a Master's in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh (2008) after moving from Ireland. Her career includes criminal justice social work roles, including work with domestic abuse victims and offenders. She has collaborated on projects like the integrated Caledonian System for domestic abuse support and led the ESRC-funded 'Unpicking prosocial modelling to strengthen probation practice' (2024-2025).
Research interests center on justice social work, sexual offending dynamics, and communication techniques. Recent work explores praise in probation settings and ideological dilemmas in gender-responsive practice. Over 15 peer-reviewed articles span topics from desistance narratives to sibling sexual abuse analysis. She actively contributes to academic discussions on social work education and rehabilitation strategies.
Labs/Teams: Co-investigator on the ESRC project focusing on probation interactional strategies. Collaborates widely with institutions like the University of Edinburgh’s School of Social and Political Science and external criminal justice organizations.
