Evan Sorg

Evan Sorg is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law and Justice Studies at Rowan University's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Temple University in 2015 and previously served as a police officer with the New York City Police Department.

His research examines innovative policing strategies, spatial crime patterns, and quantitative evaluations of law enforcement interventions. Core interests include hotspot policing methodologies, foot patrol effectiveness, crime displacement, and environmental criminology. Recent work explores seasonal variations in crime patterns and officer decision-making in transit environments.

Sorg teaches specialized courses in crime mapping, crime analysis, and contemporary law enforcement issues. He developed Rowan's Certificate in Crime Mapping and Crime Analysis and serves on the Executive Board of the American Society of Criminology's Division of Policing. He provides professional training to police commanders globally on intelligence-led policing and crime analysis techniques.
