Eva Nossem is a Researcher at the UniGR-Center for Border Studies at Saarland University. As Scientific Coordinator, she specializes in Border Studies, Queer and Gender Studies, and Multilingualism. Her work bridges cultural, linguistic, and socio-political dimensions of borders, with a focus on queer migration, pandemic discourse, and digital humanities.
Education & Professional Background: Eva holds expertise in Italian Linguistics and Queer Lexicography. She has conducted extensive research on linguistic border practices and has been involved in numerous international projects including the DAAD Ukraine Saar Studybridge and the UniGR-Center for Border Studies initiatives. She also serves on editorial boards and as a sworn translator for German, English, and Italian.
Research Focus: Her interests include Border Languaging, Critical Discourse Analysis, and Queer Lexicography. She has edited volumes such as Border Languaging (2025) and Bordertextures (2025), and leads projects like the UniGR Glossary Border Studies. Recent work addresses AI integration in teaching and pandemic-related linguistic bordering.
Grants & Projects: Funded by DAAD, Volkswagen Foundation, and Erasmus+, her projects include ON AIR Podcast Series and Hybrid Borderlands. She collaborates internationally, presenting at conferences from Frankfurt to Sofia and co-organizing events like Intersections 2017.
Labs & Teams: She contributes to the Bordertextures working group and BoTemps research initiative. Her interdisciplinary approach spans cultural border theory, digital tools, and queer migration studies.
