Dr. Eva Malone is an Associate Professor in Immunology at the School of Applied Sciences, Edinburgh Napier University. She holds a BSc (Hons) from National University of Ireland, Maynooth, an MSc from Dublin City University, and a PhD from Edinburgh Napier University. Her career spans over 20 years in immunology research and innovative medical education, with recognition including a National Teaching Fellowship (2021) and the Herald Higher Education Awards Partnership Award (2022).
Malone's research focuses on nanotoxicology, exercise immunology, and public health advocacy. She led the BIORIMA EU project (2017–2022) developing nanomaterial risk assessment methodologies, and co-created interdisciplinary HPV vaccination workshops with Maynooth University and the Irish Cancer Society. She was Programme Leader for Biological Sciences (2018–2023), achieving top UK rankings in National Student Survey for Biomedical and Biological Sciences programmes.
Her leadership roles include Acting Director of the Centre for Nano Safety, membership on the Royal Society of Biology Scotland, and coordination of the Scottish Toxicology Interest Group. She actively engages in curriculum development, educational outreach, and sector-wide programme leadership initiatives through collaborations like INTER (City Region Deal-funded fossil fuel site reimagination project).
