Eva Leistra

Eva Leistra is an Assistant Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), affiliated with the Faculty of Science's Nutrition and Health department. She holds additional academic appointments in the Amsterdam Public Health (APH) research institute's Aging & Later Life and Health Behaviors & Chronic Diseases divisions. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.

Her research focuses on clinical nutrition, gerontology, and health behaviors, with particular emphasis on malnutrition assessment in elderly populations, surgical outcomes, and maternal health. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles, including influential work on malnutrition awareness scales and risk prediction models in transplant and surgical patients.

Dr. Leistra teaches courses such as 'Nutrition in Health and Disease' and 'Voedingsleer en onderzoek' (Nutrition Research) at VU. She received the EFAD ESPEN Posterprice in 2017 for her contributions to dietetics research. Her grants and awards reflect her innovative approaches to translational nutrition science.
