Eva Koemar

Eva Koemar is a Lecturer in Social & Cultural Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Amsterdam, where her thesis examined Suriname's oil discoveries and their socio-economic implications for local entrepreneurs. Her research focuses on the anthropology of money and economic systems.

Her educational background includes a Master's thesis titled 'Oil in Suriname - a Light at the End of the Tunnel?' (2023). Her recent collaborative work explores transformative learning through art and nature integration in higher education curricula, as well as the future viability of cultural platforms like Standplaats Wereld.

Dr. Koemar teaches 11 courses including Academic Skills Lab, Anthropology at Work, and Confronting Commodity Chains. Her research networks span multiple countries, reflecting her interest in transnational socio-economic issues.
