Eva Hudecova is an Adjunct Faculty member at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). Her academic work focuses on Eastern and Central European literature and culture, examining intersections with totalitarianism, revolution, democracy, and the socio-cultural impacts of globalization.
- Education: PhD in Comparative Literature with a minor in Germanic Studies from the University of Minnesota; BA from Waldorf College.
Hudecova employs psychoanalytic frameworks such as testimony, repetition, and working through to interpret personal narratives of trauma under authoritarian regimes. Her research spans literary analysis, visual arts, films, and media, aiming to bridge cultural and historical contexts between Eastern Europe and the Anglophone world. Notably, she has translated and promoted Michal Hvorecký's novel Danube in America, highlighting Slovak cultural identity and post-communist transitions.
Her interdisciplinary approach integrates literature, art, and socio-political critique, emphasizing democratization processes and the legacy of trauma in contemporary Central European societies.
