Karen Gammelgaard is a Professor of Czech at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages (ILOS) at the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on Czech language, literature, and culture within Central Europe, with specialized interests in discourse analysis, standard language theory, diglossia, Prague School linguistics, language and texts in totalitarian states, semiotics, and symbolic nation-building.
