Eva Erwander is a Lecturer in The Design Unit at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg. She specializes in design education and material-driven explorations.
Her research interests include:
- Material Exploration
- Human-Material Relationships
- Composition and Collaborative Design
- Everyday Objects and Practices
Eva Erwander works through material-driven explorations with improvisation as a tool to allow space for chance encounters. She spends time with details of everyday life and the random constellations of objects that surround us. Her work focuses on composition, composting, and relations to investigate human relationships and approaches to materials, other beings, and landscapes. She forms instructions, collects fragments, and collaborates to drift and connect.
Eva enjoys being part of creating a design education that provides space to exchange knowledge, consider and embrace different ways of thinking. Her approach encourages noticing, wondering, and making together.
Her publication "A Formidable Mishap" (2017) with Pontus Johansson represents her work at the intersection of design and creative practice, focusing on material exploration and improvisation.
Eva Erwander is actively engaged in design education at the University of Gothenburg, contributing to the development of curricula that emphasize experiential learning and collaborative approaches to design.
