Eugenie Dugoua is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE), within the Department of Geography and Environment. She holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development from Columbia University (2018) and a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the University of London (2013). Her research focuses on the intersection of environmental economics, technological change, and innovation policy, with a particular emphasis on how institutions and policies can steer sustainable development. She is affiliated with the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, the Center for Economic Performance (CEP) at LSE, and the CEPR Climate Change and Environment Program.
Her work explores topics such as induced innovation, the energy transition, and the role of international environmental agreements. Notable contributions include analyses of fuel cell vs. battery technologies in clean transportation, the impact of ozone treaties on innovation, and the environmental costs of data centers. She teaches courses on applied environmental economics and environmental governance at LSE.
Recent projects involve collaborations on AI's role in accelerating clean energy innovation, the effects of air pollution on inventor productivity, and policy frameworks for the green transition. Her research has been published in journals like the American Economic Review: Insights, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Review of Economics and Statistics.
Eugenie actively engages in policy discussions, co-organizing workshops like the LSE/Imperial Workshop on Environmental Economics and mentoring pre-doctoral researchers.
