Eugenia Markova is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business and Law at the University of Brighton, specializing in Business and Economic Change. Her roles include module leadership in Quantitative Methods, Microeconomics, and Research Methods. She has held previous academic positions at London Metropolitan University and Roehampton University, receiving teaching awards for her pedagogical excellence. Markova holds a PhD from the University of Athens and an LLM in European Law from Sussex University, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching.
Her research focuses on undocumented migration, precarious employment, and migration’s socio-economic impacts. Key projects include an OECD-funded study on migrant remittances and a landmark analysis of Greece’s labour market integration policies. She currently oversees the Bulgarian arm of the EU’s SHARE longitudinal study on aging and health.
Markova has supervised 7 PhD students, producing seminal work on migrant worker rights, SME development in post-migration economies, and cross-cultural research methodologies. Her teaching integrates real-world research projects like the ITHACA EU initiative, offering students hands-on engagement with statistical analysis and policy research.
