معرفی
Eugene Burns is Professor of Biology at Shawnee State University, specializing in bacterial pathogenesis. He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Tennessee (1995), researching host-pathogen interactions involving Streptococcus pyogenes and Bordetella bronchiseptica. His lab actively involves undergraduates in studies of bacterial adhesion mechanisms, virulence factors, and immune evasion strategies.
Research Focus: Molecular mechanisms of bacterial adhesion, genetic regulation of virulence factors, and host cell invasion pathways. Techniques include flow cytometry, genetic knockout, and cellular adhesion assays.
Teaching: Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Cell Biology. Received university Distinguished Teaching Award (2015).
Service: President of Shawnee Education Association, Faculty Senate representative.
