Ethan Tussey is an Associate Professor of Film and Media in the Department of Film, Media & Theatre at Georgia State University’s College of the Arts, serving as Interim Director. He holds a PhD from the University of California – Santa Barbara (2012), an MA from UCLA (2007), and a BA from the University of Arizona (2005).
His research focuses on media industries, digital culture, and audience behavior, with notable works including *The Procrastination Economy* (2018), which examines the economic and social value of mobile device use in downtime settings. He explores intersections between entertainment industries and digitally empowered audiences, addressing topics like sports media, crowdfunding, and transmedia strategies.
Awards include the 2017 College of the Arts Junior Faculty Award and a Choice Magazine Outstanding Academic Title designation for his book. He co-founded the Atlanta Media Project and serves as Coordinating Editor of *In Media Res*. His teaching spans television analysis, media industries, and digital media studies.
