Jorge Gallardo-Camacho

Jorge Gallardo-Camacho is a Full Professor of Communication Sciences at the Camilo José Cela University (UCJC), where he also serves as Director of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and New Media. He holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of Málaga (UMA), an MBA in TV Business from the University of Salamanca (USAL), and extensive research accreditation (two 6-year periods from CNEAI). His professional career spans over two decades in media, including roles as Director of Espejo Público on Antena 3 News, CNN Atlanta correspondent, and leadership in Prisa TV and Aragón TV.

His research focuses on social media, television audience dynamics, digital literacy, and misinformation combat. Notable contributions include over 50 scientific publications on topics like audience measurement, yihadist content analysis, and transmedia strategies. He has been honored with the First National Award for Audiovisual Communication (Spain), recognition as one of Spain’s 100 Most Influential Young People (2016), and institutional awards from SEK for international projection (2019) and research excellence (2022).

Teaching and research are intertwined in his career: he coordinates multiple master’s programs (e.g., Digital Marketing, Political Communication) and advises on media innovation. His work bridges traditional and digital media, emphasizing critical thinking and ethical practices in journalism.
