Esther Sackett is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. She holds a Ph.D. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, an MPA from NYU’s Wagner School, and a BA in Anthropology from Ithaca College. Her postdoctoral work was at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Prior to academia, she managed interdisciplinary healthcare projects for five years.
Her research focuses on interpersonal dynamics in teams, particularly how goal diversity impacts coordination and perceptions across individual, team, and inter-organizational levels. Methodologies include field studies (qualitative and quantitative), lab experiments, and analyses using regression, social network theory, and qualitative inductive methods. Applications span healthcare, entrepreneurship, multinational firms, and nonprofits.
At SCU, she teaches undergraduate courses like Management of Organizations and Flourishing at Work, and graduate courses such as Leading People in Organizations. Awards include the 2022 ACE Outstanding Faculty Award (student-selected) and recognition as a Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professor by Poets & Quants.
Her executive education work includes programs like the Black Corporate Board Readiness and Certified Equity Professional Institute. She actively contributes to organizational change strategies, team motivation frameworks, and leadership development initiatives.
