Esther McManus

Esther McManus is a Tutor at Central Saint Martins, specializing in Print Production for the BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design Programme. She also serves as an Associate Lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts and Central Saint Martins for postgraduate courses in graphic design.

Educated at Goldsmiths University of London (MA in Arts and Learning), Bath Spa University (BA in Graphic Design), and University of Portsmouth (Diploma in Foundation Studies), McManus integrates printmaking, archival research, and visual narratives into her teaching and practice.

Her research focuses on demystifying archival research through comics, exploring intersections of history, temporality, and inclusivity. Her recent work examines collaborative practices in medieval studies and activist archives.

Notable awards include the Arts Foundation Futures Award for Comics (2020) and the Sambrook Bursary (2021). She received a 2024 travel grant to attend the International Congress of Medieval Studies.

McManus actively collaborates with institutions like Gaada, MayDay Rooms, and the Institute of Historical Research. She is a member of the Comics Research Hub at the University of the Arts London.
