Esther Heinrich serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, holding key institutional roles including Vice-Director of Studies for Theology and Research on Religion, Deputy Head of the Research Centre Religion and Transformation, and Member of the Equal Opportunities Working Party.
Her research centers on Philosophy of Religion, Theology, Ethics, Religious Studies, Lacanian Psychoanalysis, and History of Philosophy. She investigates theological concepts through philosophical frameworks, examining works by thinkers such as Lacan, Pascal, and the Weil siblings, with particular focus on language, ethics, and religious experience.
Professor Heinrich teaches advanced courses including The Name of God - The Name of the Father, Ethics in Religions, and Lacan and Religion across multiple semesters. She actively mentors doctoral candidates through the Seminar for Doctoral Candidates and her leadership in the Directorate of Doctoral Studies, demonstrating strong commitment to graduate education and research supervision.
