Ester Minga is a postdoctoral researcher at the Catholic Doctoral School, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, affiliated with the Center for Communication and Culture Studies (CECC). She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from NOVA University Lisbon, a master's in Communication and Semiotics, and a bachelor's in Social Communication with a focus on Journalism from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
Her research interests include media and migration, media and gender, audience studies, journalism studies, and public opinion. Her work explores critical discourse analysis, framing, and stereotyping in migration and gender-related contexts.
The 15 most recent publications highlight her focus on postcolonial discourse, media framing of migration, journalistic ethics, and gender representation. Key topics include migration crises, human trafficking, religious institutions, and historical reinterpretations.
Her projects include CADOS/CECC: The emigration-immigration nexus (2022–2027), analyzing public framing of migration in Portugal, and contributions to the Integral Human Development postdoctoral program. She has presented at international conferences on migration media coverage and forced migration, including discussions on securitizing discourse and refugee crises.
