Eshragh Motahar is a Professor of Economics at Union College, Schenectady, NY, with a joint affiliation to the Asian Studies Program. He has been at Union since 1984 and holds degrees from the University of London (BSc and MSc) and Johns Hopkins University (MA and PhD). His research focuses on macroeconomics, international economics, and the political economy of the New Silk Road. Teaching includes courses on macroeconomic theory, international economics, and the Sophomore Research Seminar.

Awards include the Stillman Prize for Teaching Excellence and the Donald C. Brate Distinguished Advisor Prize. He leads the India Faculty Exchange Program and contributes to endowment performance reports.
