Erwin Dreesen

Erwin Dreesen is a tenure-track Lecturer at KU Leuven's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences. He leads the Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy unit and holds memberships in KU Leuven's iSi Health Institute (physics-based modeling) and Leuven One Health Institute. His committee roles include the Research Ethics Committee UZ/KU Leuven and Faculty Councils.

His research specializes in pharmacometrics, therapeutic drug monitoring, and precision dosing, with projects spanning:

• Model-informed dosing of immunosuppressants in transplant patients
• Antimicrobial optimization in critical care
• Geriatric pharmacokinetics
• Biologics for inflammatory diseases

He coordinates 10+ active grants (2021-2029) as promoter/co-promoter, including studies on tacrolimus dosing, crizanlizumab for sickle cell disease, and antimicrobial strategies.

Recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate:

• Focus on clinical applications in IBD, antifungal therapy, and geriatrics
