Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul KARACA is a faculty member at Sakarya University's Faculty of Science, Department of Physics. His office is located in Block B, Room 414 at Esentepe Campus in Serdivan/Sakarya, with consultation hours to be arranged. He maintains active academic collaborations internationally, including a current postdoctoral position at the Institute of Physics in Zagreb, Croatia.
His research focuses on computational condensed matter physics, specializing in:
- Theoretical prediction of new superconducting materials
- High-pressure effects on superconductivity
- Electron-phonon interactions in complex compounds
- Spin-orbit coupling effects in quantum materials
- First-principles calculations of MAX phases and ternary compounds
Analysis of his extensive publication record reveals consistent focus on phonon-mediated superconductivity, high-pressure phase transitions, and computational materials design. Recent work demonstrates increasing emphasis on:
- Van der Waals materials under extreme pressures
- Noncentrosymmetric superconductors
- A15-type superconductors
- Machine-learning assisted materials discovery
He has received the Sakarya University 2019 Young Scientist of the Year Award for his contributions to theoretical condensed matter physics. His research has been supported by multiple grants including TÜBİTAK projects such as 'Theoretical Investigation of Superconductivity in New Ti-based M2AX Phases' and international collaborations through programs like Hrzz-epp.
He leads research in computational materials physics and maintains collaborations with international teams working on quantum materials. Ongoing projects include the investigation of hexagonal RT3X2 compounds for high-temperature superconductivity and studies of phonon-assisted processes in 2D materials.
