Dr. Ersoy Erdemir is an Associate Professor in the Department of Primary Education at Boğaziçi University, Turkey, specializing in early childhood education and early bilingualism. He leads undergraduate and graduate programs in Preschool Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, and Learning Sciences. His research focuses on early intervention for socially disadvantaged children, refugee education, parent empowerment programs, and early digital literacy.
Education: He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Learning and Instruction from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2008–2013), and a B.A. in Education from Anadolu University (2002–2006). His doctoral work examined vocabulary development in emergent bilingual children.
Research Interests: Erdemir’s work addresses early childhood adversities linked to poverty, displacement, and social exclusion. He designs contextually sensitive interventions for refugee and immigrant families, including home-based education models and summer preschool programs. His bilingualism research explores peer interactions and language acquisition in diverse settings.
Awards: He has received multiple accolades including AERA Graduate Student Awards (2011, 2012), a Junior Faculty Research Grant (2015), and recognition for his work on GAP Summer Preschools (2018).
