Ersoy Erdemir is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at the Faculty of Primary Education, Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Education and Integration at the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research, Humboldt University of Berlin, where he served as a Visiting Researcher from September 2023 to August 2024. Additionally, he works as an Educational Consultant and Researcher at the Mother and Child Education Foundation (AÇEV) across departments focusing on Early Childhood Education, Parent Education, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Advocacy and Policy Development.
His educational background includes:
- Doctorate in Learning and Teaching from State University of New York at Buffalo (2008-2013)
- Master's degree in Learning and Teaching from State University of New York at Buffalo (2006-2007)
Dr. Erdemir's research focuses on early childhood education for socioeconomically disadvantaged children, measures to support parenthood in disadvantaged families, and understanding social disadvantages in early childhood including poverty, displacement, immigration, and social exclusion. His work particularly examines developmental trajectories of refugee, migrant and minority children, and investigates vulnerability and resilience in early childhood within family ecology contexts.
His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on contextually sensitive early interventions for refugee and migrant children, particularly Syrian refugees in Turkey. His research employs diverse methodologies to explore educational equity, children's wellbeing in school settings, home-based interventions through mothers, and community cultural wealth.
