Ernie Mellegers serves as a Lecturer and Tutor at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), where he heads the tutor theory group and acts as Year head for the 4th year in the BA Interior Architecture & Furniture Design program. He additionally lectures at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Technical University Delft (Industrial Design) on architecture, urbanism, and related disciplines.
He holds a Master's degree in History of Architecture and Urbanism from Leiden University, supervised by Thomas A.P. van Leeuwen. His thesis examining automobile influence on Modernist architecture was published as 9079U2 Le Corbusier en de Auto (1992).
His research centers on transport-bu ilt environment interactions, architectural theory, and urban history, delivered through intensive lectures that reveal unexpected cross-disciplinary connections to stimulate critical thinking. His teaching emphasizes theoretical frameworks within design education.
As theory group leader for Context and Alchemy programs, he develops curricular strategies while mentoring students through complex theoretical explorations in the Interior Architecture & Furniture Design department.
