Maarten Kolk serves as Studio Tutor for first-year students and Study Mentor for second to fourth-year students in the Department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). He also teaches at the Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) in the 'Morning Studio' department.
His research and creative interests span Interior Architecture, Furniture Design, Spatial Design, Applied Design, Poetry, and Cultural Institutions. These are manifested through his dual professional practice: co-founding MKGK (an applied design agency specializing in spatial presentations for cultural institutions) and the artist duo Kolk & Kusters (which explores poetry and melancholy as central artistic themes).
Kolk previously held an organizational role as team leader/Year head for three years at KABK, demonstrating academic leadership. His mentoring responsibilities as Study Mentor involve guiding students through their academic progression in the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design program.
His creative entrepreneurship bridges academia and professional practice through MKGK and Kolk & Kusters, fostering connections between design education, spatial interventions, and artistic expression within the cultural sector.
