Rosa te Velde serves as a theory tutor at the Bachelor department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design and teaches theory within the Research & Discourse program at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). She maintains additional affiliations as a freelance writer, researcher, and educator at the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam and Tropenmuseum.
Her academic background includes a BA from the designLAB department of Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2010) and an MA in Design Cultures from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2015), where she researched 'Dutchness' construction through design at Dutch diplomatic sites in New York and Washington DC.
Te Velde's research critically examines design politics, national identity frameworks like Dutch Design, and intersections with decoloniality, race, and gender. She currently co-develops the Black Renaissance platform with collaborators including Patricia Kaersenhout, Antoin Deul, and Grâce Ndjako.
Her professional history includes editorial work at Kunstlicht journal (2012-2018) covering art, architecture, and visual culture. As a 2018 KABK Research Group participant, she remains affiliated with both Bachelor Interior Architecture & Furniture Design and Master Industrial Design programs.
