Erin la Cour

Dr. Erin la Cour is an Associate Professor in the Department of Literature at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's Faculty of Humanities. She specializes in Graphic Medicine, intermediality, and comics studies, focusing on how comics engage with healthcare, disability, and social discourse. As Co-Director of Amsterdam Comics and a key figure in the PULSE Network, she bridges medical and humanities research. Her ERC Consolidator Grant explores Graphic Medicine's role in healthcare training and dissemination across cultural contexts. She co-edited Graphic Medicine (2022), recognized with an Honorable Mention and Eisner nomination, and Key Terms in Comics Studies (2022). Teaching includes courses like The Graphic Novel, emphasizing student-led, practice-based learning. Awards include the Comenius Teaching Fellowship (2019).
