Erin White McDermott is an Applied Assistant Professor of French at The University of Tulsa's Department of Language & Literature, where she teaches beginning and intermediate French courses. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes comprehensible input through authentic resources, communicative tasks, and creating inclusive classroom environments. She holds a B.S. in Modern Languages from Georgetown University and an M.A. from Middlebury College, where her thesis focused on medieval artwork at Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Her research centers on language acquisition best practices and effective world languages teaching methodologies. She received the 2024 Teaching Innovation Grant for her pedagogical innovations.
Beyond academia, she enjoys nature walks, fiber arts, and exploring contemporary cinema with her children.
