Erin VanLaningham, PhD, is a Professor of English and Chairperson of the Faculty at Loras College. She holds a BA from Luther College (1996), MA from Northeastern University (1999), and PhD from Saint Louis University (2004). Her expertise spans 19th-century British literature, Irish studies, women’s literature, and vocation in education.
- Teaches courses on detective fiction, Gothic literature, serial novels, and Irish Women’s Writing
- Utilizes Loras Library’s special collections of Victorian periodicals and first editions
- Leads the May Term travel course "Literary London and Beyond" exploring British culture
Research focuses on vocation’s intersection with literary studies and undergraduate education. She directs the NetVUE Scholarly Resources Project and co-hosts the podcast "Callings: Conversations on College, Career, and a Life Well-Lived".
