Erin Pearson

Dr. Erin Pearson serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Lakehead University, where she has held a faculty position since August 2012. Dr. Pearson's research program centers on health promotion through behavior modification and motivation-based interventions. Her work prioritizes community-driven approaches with three core emphases: developing child/youth/family health programs, evaluating Co-Active coaching and motivational interviewing for at-risk populations, and creating sector-specific wellness optimization strategies. She actively partners with community organizations to design asset-focused, participant-informed projects addressing health equity gaps.

Her research has attracted significant funding including a $25,000 Bell Let's Talk grant in May 2021 for COVID-19 impact studies. Teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and graduate levels with courses including Health Promotion and Weight Management, Lifestyle Counselling, and Research Methods and Design.

Dr. Pearson directs the Health Promotion Lab, which implements community-based behavioral interventions and evaluates coaching methodologies for sustainable health outcomes.
