
Erin Murphy-Graham

Erin Murphy-Graham is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley with expertise in comparative and international education. Her work centers on educational approaches that foster empowerment, particularly for girls and women in Latin America, and examines how education can transform intimate relationships and build social trust.

Dr. Murphy-Graham is the author of "Opening Minds, Improving Lives: Education and Women's Empowerment in Honduras" (Vanderbilt University Press, 2012) and co-editor of "Life Skills Education for Youth: Critical Perspectives." Her scholarly work has been published in leading journals including Comparative Education Review, International Journal of Educational Development, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, International Review of Education, Gender and Education, and the American Journal of Evaluation.
She is currently engaged in a design-based research-practice partnership with Bayan Association in Honduras focused on the prevention of child marriage and adolescent pregnancy through their Holistic Education for Youth program. Her research employs high-quality mixed methods approaches and emphasizes centering the voices of marginalized communities.

Prior to Berkeley, she served as Assistant Professor of International Education at New York University's Steinhardt School. She has extensive field experience working with government agencies and NGOs across Honduras, Colombia, Nicaragua, Uganda, and the Caribbean.
