Erin Mayfield is the Hodgson Family Assistant Professor of Engineering at Dartmouth College's Thayer School of Engineering. Her research explores sustainable energy transitions through computational modeling, with emphasis on social equity and environmental policy. She directs the Sustainable Transitions Lab and contributes to climate policy discussions at international forums like CERAWeek.
Education includes:
- BS, Environmental Science, Rutgers University
- MS, Environmental Engineering, Johns Hopkins University
- PhD, Engineering and Public Policy, Carnegie Mellon University
Research interests focus on multi-objective decision-making in energy systems, data-driven environmental analysis, and equity dimensions of climate solutions. Her work bridges engineering, social science, and policy to address sustainability challenges.
Publications consistently address energy-environment interactions, with recent work analyzing shale gas impacts, methane mitigation, and decarbonization pathways. This research provides critical insights for equitable climate policy formulation.
Awards and honors:
- Rob Socolow Carbon Mitigation Initiative Best Paper Award (2021)
- American Chemical Society's Editors' Choice Award (2017)
- Herbert L. Toor Award for academic excellence (2016)
Teaches courses on energy systems (ENGS 175) and data analytics (ENGM 182/ENGG 182), mentoring students through project-based learning. Leads interdisciplinary teams in the Sustainable Transitions Lab to develop scalable climate solutions.
