Erin Maclean is a Researcher at Griffith University and affiliated with the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. She investigates gender representation in shooter videogames, the evolution of cultural norms in gaming, and the perpetuation of stereotypes in media coverage of gaming communities.

She actively contributes to the game studies community as Vice President of the Digital Games Research Association Australia (DiGRAA) and a technical editor for the Journal of Games Criticism. Previously, she served as a Senior Vice Editor and editorial board member for Press Start, a journal for students and early career researchers. Her practical journalism experience spans print and digital platforms, enriching her academic insights into media bias and representation.
