Erin Hennes is an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, affiliated with the Harry S Truman School of Government and Public Affairs and the Department of Psychological Sciences. She directs the Social Cognition of Social Change (SCSC) Lab and the NIH R01-funded SuperPower Project. Her research focuses on cognitive and motivated biases in information processing related to contemporary issues like environmental sustainability and social inequality. Key interests include how social stability concerns and preferences for change influence cognitive processes, and the development of interventions addressing systemic injustices.
Her translational work examines intervention efficacy and unintended consequences, particularly around status-quo injustices. The SuperPower Project emphasizes methodological best practices in science, including sample size determination. Hennes' research bridges social psychology, environmental policy, and STEM education, with interdisciplinary collaborations in statistical methodology and policy design.
Recent articles highlight themes in climate change communication, statistical power frameworks, and behavioral interventions. Funded by NIH, her work addresses both theoretical and applied challenges in science and public policy.
