Dr. Erin Harrington is a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Canterbury's Faculty of Arts, where she coordinates the Cultural Studies programme and Gender/Sexuality Studies minor. With a PhD in Cultural Studies and Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching, her research explores horror media through philosophical, feminist, and transnational lenses, particularly focusing on New Zealand/Pacific contexts.
Her interdisciplinary research spans:
- Gender embodiment in horror film ('gynaehorror')
- Digital humanities approaches to visual media
- Anthology formats and paratextual analysis
- Transnational horror cinema and cultural hybridity
Publications demonstrate strong focus on genre evolution, national cinema identities, and feminist media critique, with recent work examining mockumentary forms, streaming culture, and horror-comedy intersections across 15+ publications since 2017.
