Dr. Erin E. Kelly is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Academic and Technical Writing Program (ATWP) at the University of Victoria. She holds a PhD from the University of Maryland and specializes in Early Modern English drama, rhetoric, and Renaissance literature. Her research explores intersections between Reformation religious discourse and literature, including work on John Foxe's Actes and Monuments and post-Reformation performances of cycle plays. She is currently completing a book project titled Performing Conversion in Early Modern England.
- Teaches courses on academic writing, Tudor-Stuart literature, Shakespeare, and textual studies.
- Develops curriculum for AWR-designated courses such as ENGL/ATWP 135 and trains graduate students in teaching writing through ENGL 502.
- Serves as Associate Editor of Early Theatre since 2011 and co-authored a review of the MLA Handbook 8th edition in Composition Forum.
Her research integrates rhetorical theory with historical performance practices, including work on the Internet Shakespeare Editions project. She advocates for academic integrity and led a team creating an Open Educational Resources textbook for Canadian academic writing.
