Erin Donaghy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Her research focuses on sedimentology and tectonics, particularly studying basins formed along active convergent and strike-slip margins. She integrates field mapping with U-Pb zircon geochronology to explore basin-tectonic interactions. Donaghy holds a PhD from Purdue University (2024), an MSc from Northern Arizona University (2015), and a BSc from Bucknell University (2012).
Her research interests include the relationship between basin formation and large-scale tectonic processes such as ridge subduction and oceanic plateau collisions. She uses sedimentary records to investigate faulting timing, sedimentation rates, and depositional environments. Recent work emphasizes the Eocene to Miocene stratigraphy of the Olympic Peninsula and the role of chemical abrasion in improving geochronologic accuracy.
Donaghy actively seeks graduate students for MS and PhD projects. Her work has been published in journals like Geosphere, Geochronology, and GSA Bulletin. She maintains collaborations across institutions and is affiliated with ResearchGate, Google Scholar, and LinkedIn.
