Erin Byrd

Dr. Erin Byrd is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy specializing in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the School of Health Professions within the University of Plymouth. She holds a Visiting Specialist title and is affiliated with the Faculty of Health. Her expertise spans Sports Medicine, Paediatric Orthopaedics, and Spine Rehabilitation. Dr. Byrd earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of South Alabama, along with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Health Sciences (Summa Cum Laude). She is certified in Sports Physical Therapy, Strength and Conditioning, Dry Needling, and Pilates instruction.

Teaching & Research Focus: Her academic work emphasizes clinical applications in sports medicine, musculoskeletal disorders in adolescents, and spine-related conditions. Recent research presentations include analyses of wrist biomechanics in gymnasts and low back pain management in young athletes.
