Dr. Erin Brodie is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University, Australia. She leads the Woodside FutureLab, focusing on research translation through Additive Manufacturing (AM), metallurgy, and archaeological applications. Her expertise spans AM of biomedical devices (e.g., bone implants, coronary stents) and industry collaborations across energy, biomedical, and archaeological sectors.
Education: PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (Monash University, Dr Marie-Faith Fiawoo Award); BEng (Hons) in Materials Engineering (Ian Polmear Prize, Sir John Monash Medal); and BA in Archaeology/German (Best Overall Student Award).
Research interests include AM materials development, data science integration, corrosion-resistant alloys, and archaeological geochemistry. She collaborates with industry and academia to solve challenges in energy, healthcare, and heritage preservation.
Key achievements include advancing AM solutions for oil/gas infrastructure and biomedical devices, and pioneering archaeological studies like the Antas Valley geochemical survey. Awards include prestigious academic honors and industry recognition.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Woodside FutureLab, engaging students, fellows, and industry partners in projects ranging from AM reactor design to 3D archaeological artifact reconstruction.
