Aibing Yu is Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor at Monash University. A world leader in particle technology and process engineering, he directs multiple research hubs including the ARC Industrial Transformation Hub for Computational Particle Technology.
Research Impact: Yu's work has transformed industrial processes in mineral processing, metallurgy, and materials manufacturing through advanced computational modeling of particulate systems. Current projects include nano-enhanced construction materials and low-carbon metallurgy techniques.
Leadership: Established major collaborative initiatives including the Australia-China Joint Research Centre for Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials, and the BHP-Monash Knowledge Centre for Low Carbon Metallurgy. Editor-in-Chief of the Handbook of Powder Science and Engineering.
Awards: Received the Australian Academy of Science's Ian Wark Medal (2010), NSW Scientist of the Year (2010), and elected Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2017).
