Ruiping Zou is an Associate Professor (Research) at Monash University's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. She directs the Lab for Simulation and Modelling of Particulate Systems (SIMPAS), managing a team of 50-60 researchers. Her expertise spans particle technology, process engineering, and computational modeling for mineral and material industries.
She holds a Ph.D. from UNSW Australia, an M.Eng. from the University of Wollongong, and a B.Eng. from Northeastern University.
Research focuses on particle characterization, powder handling, and multiphase flow simulations applied to metallurgy and materials science. Current projects include thermomechanical processing of titanium alloys.
Zou has secured over AU$3.5 million in competitive funding (ARC DP, LP, and Hub grants). She serves as Managing Editor for Powder Technology and holds leadership roles in ARC Hubs for Computational Particle Technology and Smart Process Design.
Community contributions:
- Organizer of 10+ international conferences on minerals and particle technology
- ARC grant reviewer since 2002
- Journal referee for Powder Technology and Chemical Engineering Science
