معرفی
Dr. Erin Boland is a Research Associate in Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow, focusing on cardiac physiology and cardiovascular disease mechanisms. She holds a BSc in Anatomy, MSc in Cardiovascular Sciences, and a PhD from the University of Glasgow (2023).
Her research investigates extracellular matrix interactions in heart disease, particularly basement membrane roles in COL4A1/2 mutation-related pathologies. She specializes in myocardial infarction models, cardiac electrophysiology, and adrenergic signaling. Current projects explore sodium-calcium exchanger 1 (NCX1) modulation and its effects on cardiac function.
Technical expertise includes Langendorff perfused hearts, optical electrophysiology, and surgical myocardial infarction induction. She contributes to teaching anatomy, physiology, and experimental techniques at undergraduate levels, with a 2024 Associate Fellowship in Teaching Excellence.
Key research themes include cardiac structural changes, electrophysiological perturbations in disease, and translational approaches to heart failure. Collaborative work spans microscopy innovations (e.g., 2-photon imaging) and novel myocardial infarction modeling techniques.
