Erin Barley is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU). She holds a BSc (Honours) from the University of Guelph and an MSc from SFU. Her research focuses on paleoclimatology and limnology, particularly using chironomids (non-biting midges) as indicators of past environmental conditions. She has published on topics including chironomid-environment relationships in northern North America and climate reconstructions using lake sediment records.
Barley teaches courses such as Vertebrate Biology (BISC 316) and General Biology (BISC 102), reflecting her expertise in both ecology and organismal biology. Her work bridges paleoenvironmental studies and modern limnological research, with contributions to understanding temperature gradients and ecological responses in freshwater systems.
