Erin A. Wiggins

Erin A. Wiggins serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning and Coordinator of the ASL Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she specializes in American Sign Language instruction and Deaf cultural advocacy with emphasis on healthcare accessibility.

Her academic credentials include:

• Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Temple University
• Masters of Science in Healthcare Finance Management from Temple University
• Bachelor of Science in Community Health with Biology minor from Northern Illinois University

Professor Wiggins' research and professional work centers on advancing Deaf community integration within healthcare systems, developing specialized ASL curricula for medical professionals, and addressing barriers faced by Deaf children and women. She actively promotes cultural competence through workshops targeting healthcare providers to improve patient-provider communication and institutional accessibility.

Prior to her UWM appointment, she taught ASL, Medical ASL, and Deaf Culture courses at the University of Pennsylvania and two additional colleges while maintaining clinical experience at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she initiated her advocacy for equitable healthcare access for Deaf populations.
